One Beautiful Life

There's a clock on the wall that's a ticking

There's a pot on the boil in the kitchen

There's a woman down the hall gone a missing

This is it your one beautiful life

There's a sun in the sky up above you

Someone laying in your bed who’s gonna love you

There's a place you gotta go on the run to

This is it your one beautiful life

This is your one beautiful life

Live it up, get it right

You don't get the chance to go round twice

It’s all about love

This is your one beautiful life

Somebody got a bun cooking in the oven

Somebody that you know needs a bit of loving

People dying everyday now ain't that something

This is it your one beautiful life

This is your one beautiful life

Live it up, get it right

You only get one chance don’t go round twice

Learn about love

This is your one beautiful life

Live every minute of every day

Find a little bit of truth along the way

Don't give up on your dream because you're too afraid

Cause in the end it's all just gonna fade

There’s a knock on the door you gotta answer

Somebody needs a little more they’re gonna ask you

And if you wanna get ahead move a little faster

This is it your one beautiful life

This is your one beautiful life

Live it up, do it right

You don't get the chance to go round twice

It’s all about love

This is your one beautiful life

These Shoes

I’m walking

But I’m not sure where I’m going

I’m walking

Down these sidewalks made of stone

While well intended loved ones offer up their destinations

Past the monsters that I’m facing

Got a way they think worth taking, I should choose

When they got no way of knowing

Which way and where I’m going

Cause they’re not walking in these shoes

I’m running

Scared and frightened where I’ve been

I’m someone (running)

Running from the very end

With my laces tied as tight as they can take it

Cause there’s miles to go to make it

Back to where I still can fake it like I’ve never known the blues

It’s a matter of survival

There’s no right time of arrival

When you’re walking in these shoes

These Shoes

Only one man can wear them

These Shoes

Are tight and right molded to my feet..right and tight with a fragile soul

These Shoes are writing their own story

With every little step they’re taking

It’s a solitary street that I’m walking…it’s a funky bit of road I’m walking

In these shoes

How many roads must I walk down

How many miles must I go

How many times must I turn around

Before I know my destination home

I don’t wanna cause no trouble, bust up anybody’s bubble,

On the chance that I might stumble

While I fumble my way around the rules

And there ain’t no good explanation

Cause it’s a tricky situation

When you’re walking in these shoes

With no direction home

I’m walking

Why Aren't You Here

Why Aren't You Here

It’s another sunny day in la, in la

Why aren’t you here with me, why aren’t you here with me

We could drive down to the sea, walk barefoot on the beach

Why aren’t you here with me, why aren’t you here with me

Guess who’s wide-awake at 3am

Talking to himself and the walls again

Staring into darkness watching shadows creep

Turned on the light and had a puff

Lost without the one he loves

Who thinks of you and wonders where you are

I want to know why, why aren’t you here

Why aren’t you here, right where you belong

I want to know why, why aren’t you here

I need you here, you’ve been gone too long

There’s no one sleeping with me in my bed

Just loneliness instead, why aren’t you here with me

The spot is empty where you lay your head

Want to feel you on my chest, why aren’t you here with me

You don’t need to be alone, I’m no good by myself

There’s a vacancy when we’re apart that’s filled by no one else

I whisper to you softly girl but it’s a hurting cry for help

Turn on the light and have a puff

Surprise myself with I’m in love

Check the clock and wonder where you are

I want to know why, why aren’t you here

Why aren’t you here, right where you belong

I want to know why, why aren’t you here

Why aren’t you here, you’ve been gone too long

Why aren’t you here for coffee in the morning

When the world outside is calling and you’re so far away

Why aren’t you here to rock me off to dreamland

Hold me while I’m sleeping and make it all ok

Count the days and pass the time

Remembering what it’s like to be together

Know all the reasons why we ache inside

Promise it won’t be this way forever

September in Your Eyes

Thought I wasn’t ready

Didn’t feel a thing but hurt

Was in no kind of hurry

To fall for what that’s worth

Then you show up from somewhere

An angel of surprise

Right from out of nowhere

With September in your eyes

I have my share of fantasy

I can pull things out the blue

But in my wildest imagination

I never expected you

I could only wonder

If I’d ever love again

The spell that puts you under

Is what you got me in

Never would have dreamed it

In a million endless nights

That one day I’d be staring

At September in your eyes

Thought in time there’d be someone

I had no idea who

Could have been most anybody

Just never expected you

I heard the knocking on the door

I felt the beating of the drum

Too much for me to just ignore

I just couldn’t run, wouldn’t run

All those fish out in the ocean

Swimming in the sea

So many of them lonely

Trying to put a hook in me

But no one ever rang my bell

Though so many tried

Till you bust through the front door

With September in your eyes…

I know summer’s over now

can’t believe it’s true

another season changes

I just never expected you

Never Too Late

Oh no, it’s never too late

Never too late too dream

Oh, no, it’s never ever ever too late

Oh no, it’s never too late

Never too late too dream

Oh, no, it’s never ever ever too late…

People will try to put you in a cage

Build a ceiling on your sky don’t let them do it

Give you all their good, no good reasons why

That mountain’s just too high for you to climb

They got no right, don’t let them fool you

Even though they try, they got no right

They got no right, so why even listen

Let no man put a chain around your mind

Oh no, it’s never too late

Never too late too dream

Oh, no, it’s never ever ever too late

Oh no, it’s never too late

Never too late too dream

Oh, no, it’s never ever ever too late…

You’ve got that vision in your mind

There’s a reason why it’s there, don’t you deny it

They will all just try to tell you that you’re blind

But they can’t feel that fire in your soul

They got no right, don’t let them fool you

Even though they try, they got no right

They got no right, so why even listen

Let no man put a chain around your mind

Oh no, it’s never too late

Never too late too dream

Oh, no, it’s never ever ever too late

Gentle Girl

In a world of stone and ice

Amelia’s on a solo flight

It hasn’t been an easy life

But there’s no compromise

Lovers they have melted

Snowmen in the sun

Just couldn’t take the fiery heat

Don’t know how to love

But when you’re man enough to pull the veil

In a strong woman there’s a gentle girl

She can dream got a vision all her own

Why does she have to be alone

A soldier in the danger zone

A sister to the night

Some think they might like it

Try it out for size

Find out that the fits too tight

Go running for their lives

But if you keep the train on the rail

In a strong woman there’s a gentle girl

It ain’t meant to threaten

She can lift you up

Take you where you’ve never been

Be the special one

Give up a little piece of you

Get back so much more

You never know what you might find

Underneath it all

To the world she’s a razor sharp to cut

Shoulders that are strong enough

It’s always been the way she was

Black sheep since she’s young

She wonders if he’s out there

How many times she’s tried

Hope is on the shallow

Holding on with all her might

Cause when the hammer hits the nail

In a strong woman there’s a gentle girl

Alone

We live on echoes and dreams

We occupy by being busy

You can drug yourself to sleep

Just to hide from what's missing

Smile and cry

Wonder why

Pass the time

It moves too slow

No one should be alone

No one should be alone

Life is hard, the nights are long

No one should be alone

You can lose yourself in the empty

Sink down in the hallow of the deep

Surrender it all to the voices you hear

In the shallow desperation of your need

Laugh and cry

Don't ask why

Pass the time

It's then you know

No one should be alone

No one should be alone

We all have needs

Needs are real

No one should be alone

Don't give up on love

Don't give up on love

Don't give up on love
