The most interesting comment I’ve received about Life & the Romantic so far comes from clothing designer Linda Stokes, “ I love your new record! You’re a combination of Sade and Willie Nelson.”

What better way to debut the updated Bruce Sudano website then with the good news that “It’s Her Wedding Day” goes #1 on the AC/40 chart! After coming close with other singles in the past this time we’ve made it to the top. Of course my daughters are pleased they could inspire such a successful song.
At the same time the new CD Life & the Romantic, which was released at the end of March, has been greeted with great reviews and meaningful listener appreciation.
It seems people truly get a sense of themselves reflected in the songs I’m singing and this brings me a great sense of satisfaction.
It’s very encouraging to know I can continue to grow as an artist and affect the minds and emotions of others by staying true to myself and writing about the issues that inspire and have meaning to me.
I was thrilled last month to be invited by Tommy Sims to join him with Amy Grant and Drew Ramsey for an acoustic night of music during Nashville’s Tin Pan South week.
We each took turns singing songs and telling stories with the audience thoroughly engaged and entertained for over 2 hours.
I (although a bit nervous) completely enjoyed myself and was honored to be included with such an elite group.
Video clips of my performance are on the media page as well as myspace and youtube.
This has kick started what I’ve been threatening to do for quite awhile and that’s get out and play live.
I’m now actively pursuing opportunities.
Please listen and enjoy Life & the Romantic.
Ciao for now…..bruce

A LITTLE BIT OF NEWS…
”The Sweetest Thing”, the first single from my forthcoming
CD “Life & the Romantic” was released to AC radio on January
30th. After 2 weeks we’re already on 13 stations with close to 100
spins a week. An excellent start!!
Also, I don’t know if anyone has seen an infomercial that’s
been airing called “It All Started with Doo-Wop”. It’s
hosted by Dion backed by the “Doo-Wop Kings” who are none
other then the Brooklyn Dreams!! We had a great time hanging and singing
some good old songs with Dion who is a true original and a real talent.
Til the next time…..

I've been living in LA since the middle of February continuing to work
on my new CD, which will be titled “Life & the Romantic”.
While here (for the first time in a while) I’ve done some co-writing
for the record. The co-writers include Barry Manilow, Al Kasha and Sebastian
Arocha-Morton. Also, my wife Donna and I have written the end title song
for an animated movie called “Food Fight” which stars Charlie
Sheen and Eva Longoria. The song is called “You Got Me Believin”.
It will be performed in the movie and on the soundtrack by Joe “Bean”
Esposito and Brooklyn Dreams. It’s a Lion’s Gate film and
Michael Lloyd is producing the music. Joe and I had a great time being
back in the studio and singing together again!
Also, I’m sure most of are aware there is a live, impromptu video
of me on you tube in the studio singing another new song called “A
Glass of Red and the Sunset”. It was shot by the second engineer
so the rhythm section could see my guitar voicings and then posted. The
actual track has now been recorded with three of the tastiest musicians
in the world, Greg Mathesion on piano, Abe Laborial on bass and Bill Maxwell
on drums.
Stay tuned!!

WHEN LIFE GETS IN THE WAY
It was last November just before thanksgiving when I arrived home, fresh from Europe after months of touring and more than ready for some downtime, to a houseful of family and friends there for the holidays. The plan was to get through New Years Eve then head for a deserted beach to clear my head, continue writing and begin recording for my next CD, which I already felt was overdue. So, as I watched my mother board the plane in Nashville for Newark that first week in January, I was ready and set to go with the intention of being finished with the project by June when the tour would resume.
However, mom was home barely a week when we got the news that she was diagnosed with a malignant tumor at the top of her left lung. Suddenly, music and the beach were no longer on my radar. I immediately flew her back and began a journey into the world of doctors, hospitals, biopsies, scans, radiation, chemotherapy, nutrition, alternative treatments and multiple opinions. It was all consuming. Decisions were crucial and immediate, prayer and faith vital. Months went on, the prognosis was good but guarded. Mom was strong under fire. I thought to myself, if it were me I'd be whimpering in a corner somewhere.
This is a time when family becomes imperative because the weight of the load can be paralyzing and begs to be shared. My brother Barry would meet us, mom and I, everyday he could at the treatment center. We took all the important doctor meetings together so we could commiserate. My wife and children all pitched in at home to make sure grandma was comfortable, eating right, keeping her company and occupied so her spirits wouldn't sink. We read books on the subject, asked every question we could think of to anyone who might have an insight and followed every lead We had people around the world praying for her.
The number of people of all ages suffering is overwhelming. To be absorbed into this environment and culture of disease is emotionally debilitating and over time had subtly begun to affect my psyche. 2005 hadn't been a good year in the realms of life and death. I had lost a few close friends, as well as a few relatives and it seemed I had entered into the age where these things become part of reality. You begin to ask yourself questions and think about things that in the past had seemed distant. I was hearing the ticking of the clock.
I developed numbness in my left hand that was affecting my guitar playing. Could it be my heart? No, just damaged vertebrae in the neck. I began wondering about every little ache and pain. On the second of May, mom had surgery to remove the tumor. By this time I was empty, vacant and remote. I started getting sharp pains above my left eye that would strike with the slightest facial movement. I became expressionless, afraid to tell anyone what I was experiencing and thinking the worst until it became unbearable and obvious. Ultimately ending up at a neurologist who put me on a medication that stopped the symptoms but made me feel like a zombie. After three months I stopped the medicine and the problem was gone.
Mom came through the surgery with flying colors, is cancer free and recovering her life. Psychologically I've healed as well, come out of the shadows and back into the light. It's the fall again; thanksgiving is just around the corner and I've returned from touring. In the midst, I've recorded half of the new record and have almost all the songs written. My daughter Brooklyn has just been married and I wrote a song for the occasion called, "It's Her Wedding Day". We used it for our father-daughter dance. You can click to hear it if you like. Life goes on...BCS
Hi!!!!!!! As most of you know this part of the tour is completed. Through prayer, preparation, diligence and above all "the grace of God" it was a very rewarding experience. I am now preparing for our trip to Europe. A time and place where I will continue writing and recording for my next CD.

6/28/04 Well......I'm back!!!!!!!!!! After a very busy but worthwhile "Journey" to the UK with "the little Mrs", I had a quick turnaround to prepare for the trip out to LA and my performance at the New Music Weekly Awards on Saturday night.Upon arriving on Friday afternoon, I went straight to a rehersal at 3rd Encore in the valley for a brief run through and then on Saturday afternoon, I did a soundcheck at the Key Club on Sunset where the award show was taking place. Everything seemed to be going well and I was excited to perform and sing Le Imagine' Cafe' that night. I went back to my hotel, changed clothes and returned for the event, walking the "Red Carpet" into the venue which now was "buzzing".I was quickly ushered downstairs to the reception area for photos and interviews and before I knew it the ceremonies had begun. Since I was the first to perform they made sure I was backstage in plenty of time and after a couple of awards and acceptance speeches I was introduced. I walked through the curtain, up to the mike and sang. I couldn't see the audience because of the lights but I could feel their energy and I ended to cheers and applause. Then, since I had no expectation of winning, considering the competition (John Mayer, Josh Groban and Seal), I took the opportunity of being onstage to thank the people at New Music Weekly, the program and music directors at the radio stations and ofcourse the DJ'S for their support of my music. I then went backstage, had a drink, took some more pictures and wandered back out into the audience to watch the rest of the festivities, which were quite entertaining. It was near the end of the show when they got to the category I was nominated in,"AC/40 Artist of the Year". They announced the nominees and as they did a piece of their music would play and their picture would appear on the big screen above the stage. When they got to me, I heard "Where Would I Be" playing and saw my most recent publicity photo up there. Then, before I could think, Billy Vera, who was the presenter on stage said, " and the winner is............Bruce Sudano"!!!!! Well, I was frozen for a moment, Susan Munao who was sitting with me screamed and the audience began to cheer and look around. I slowly got up and tried to find my way up to the stage but couldn't find a path until some gracious person pointed me in the right direction. I got up to the podium, Billy handed me a plaque which I quickly glanced at, though not really seeing anything. I hugged him and the actress(name??) who was there with him and then I began to speak, again thanking everyone etc. but feeling kind of on auto-pilot. (I actually think I made sense) Then it was back down to the reception area for more photos and pats on the back....Now looking back, it was a wonderful experience and very encouraging for me. As we come up on one year since the release of "Rainy Day Soul" I can use this as a time to review all that's been accomplished and all that yet to do in preparing to step out further............and to all of you too, I say "Thank You" for all the support and encouragement for me and my family. You have no idea how much it means in enabling us to carry on in what we love to do.Ciao for Now.........BCS
5/21/04Hi...........for some reason I keep disappearing in spite of my declarations to be consistant. I guess I could blame it on the complexities of life or just admit as Tony Soprano so eloquently put it, "I'm a robot to my own pussy-ass weakness". For this I apologize, I am stiving to be better....On the record front, "Where Would I Be" has done EXTREMELY well !!! Currently #2 on the New Music Weekly chart for the last 3 weeks, we're still hoping to crack the Top Spot which is held by the Five for Fighting record "One Hundred Years", which is a great song.....We'll see!!!!"Where Would I Be" is also making inroads at Country Radio and "Rainy Day Soul" as a whole on the Triple A stations....so new avenues continue to appear as the music finds new ears to hear.............On the performing live front, I am standing at a door which I'm finding the courage to walk through. Although, I fully intend to be performing "Le Imagine' Cafe" at the NMW Awards in LA on the 26th of June (probably to a backing track)....I will get there. As we all know, things can take longer then we anticipate.......Stay Tuned........PTL.....Ciao for Now........BCS
2/28/04Thanks to everyone who sent e-mails of encouragement regarding "The Live Thang", especially Sal, Warren, Lee, Jeff and Joe...you know who you are....No specific dates are set yet but we'll see how it plays out....I'm looking for 3 musicians to form the band with me. A sax/keyboard player, a percussionist and a guitarist. I can see it and hear it, it's gonna be cool.On the Radio Front....5 more adds this past week, none of which were R&R's but prospects for this coming week are looking good!!!! Sorry, I still don't have the station list and request lines put together but I'm working on it....On the distribution side of things, I'm days away from signing an agreement with Lightyear/Warner Bros. to get Rainy Day Soul out into the stores. This is a major step, adding another missing piece to the puzzle. We keep moving forward through hard work and the grace of God......This brings me to "The Passion of the Christ". I went to go see this much debated movie last Monday and although I don't know if I would go see it again, I do recommend everybody go see it once. However, it is not your typical movie because it's not entertainment. It is riveting and exceptional....violent, graphic, beautifully shot yet so real it feels like a documentary. A clear description of sacrifice....the subtle, alluring, negative whispering ways of the "evil spirit"........what it means to be a man.....the cost of motherhood...and the call to carry someone elses burden....It's an experience layered in mutiple levels of truth and revelation..... It's a Lesson...It's a Reminder.........and I believe Inspired.Ciao for Now...PTL.....BCS
2/21/04Once again, I must apologize for the inconsistancy of these updates. In my attempt to maintain control and "keep it personal", I've let the busyness of my life get in the way and be the overiding factor. I will try to do better and if things don't change I will put someone in place who will be responsible for weekly updates. On the music front, "Where Would I Be", track #4 on "Rainy Day Soul" has been released as the 2nd single and is off to a great start!!!After 3 weeks we're on 23 stations, 4 of which are the very important RnR reporting stations....Also, The AC Research Report which is the guide for all the stations, gave "Where Would I Be" it's "Pick Hit", even though they had never heard of Bruce Sudano or Purple Heart Records....This is a great sign and a strong indicator of the songs potential at AC Radio!!!Hopefully, in next weeks update I'll be able to post the stations and their request line numbers incase some of you want to call and ask them to play it.....Every little bit helps, as we're up against tremendous competition (big companies with lots of money)..... but I BELIEVE........... Where there's a will, there's a way....that the music has something to say and deserves to be heard....that with a little help from my friends, alot of hard work...focus and persistance....along with favor from the Lord, Everything is Possible!!!In April, I will begin rehersals in preparation for getting out and playing live..I'm still not sure who the players will be but I've got some ideas and over a month to figure it out....I'm greatly looking forward to this possibility as it has always been my favorite part of being a musician (from the time I was a teenager playing the clubs of Brooklyn) although, I am a little nervous because I've never had to be the front person on my own but I'm ready for the challenge and life is about facing the fear and walking through it. ......can I get an Amen???Well, that's it for now....please feel free to e-mail your thoughts, comments or questions.....Ciao for Now....PTL....BCSPS.....the dance radio mix of Le' Imagine' Cafe has been added in the "clips section" for your listening pleasure.....
12/23/03Happy Chanukah!!! Merry Christ mas!!! Happy New Year!!! Happy Holiday Season!!!! Whatever your religious persuasion...For me as a Christian it's about the birth of the messiah but for everyone at the very least it's a reminder about giving, sacrifice, kindness and showing love not only now but as a part of our everyday lives...Unfortunately, it can become such a stressful time it's hard to exemplify those qualities especially now.Sorry about the infrequency of the updates. It seems like the last few months have been a blur of airplanes and hotel rooms running along side the "little Mrs." out promoting her book and CD with me jumping in periodically saying "I have a CD too." We're done for the year and settling in for the holidays. I have to keep reminding myself that the season is about joy and peace and not let myself slip into "scrooge mode" which I've been known to do.Le' Imagine' Cafe is sitting at #4 on the New Music Weekly Chart and 35 at FMQB. I am very pleased.......I'm now in process of deciding about next single and pondering ways of reaching a larger audience for the music.....One thing that may seem odd is I will be doing numerous talk-radio interviews in the new year. At the same time putting some musicians together so I can get out and play live shows by the time spring rolls around........STAY TUNED!!!!!
11/18/03Wow!!!!!! It's been awhile since I've been up for a visit....The Good News continues as Le' Imagine' Cafe moves into the Top Ten on NMW at #9....and #44 on FMQB!!!Also, last week we got our first big R&R station onboard at KWAV in northern CA..........We are now on 40 stations at over 800 spins a week!!! We are now in the "hunt" for distribution so we can get "Rainy Day Soul" into the stores and reach more people. The dance radio mix is finally done and will be serviced to the appropriate stations on the first of the year!!! It is very cool and contemporary, still maintaining the integrity of the song yet it grooves in a very different way.The remix was done by Joey Cars who was intimately involved in the production of the Donna song "Melody of Love" some years back. I intend to put it up for download after trhe holidays...and in case I don't get back before....Happy Thanksgiving to you all....ciao for now.......
10/12/03YO!!!!!! It's a busy but exciting time as we begin to knock on the doors of the upper levels of the music world....Imagine' Cafe is over 500 spins and moves to #26 on NMW & #72 FMQB both AC charts..starting to make our push to the more important R&R reporting stations.......Say a Prayer!!!Look for a review of "Rainy Day Soul" in the Oct. 25th issue of Billboard Magazine...hopefully, it will be a good one....The "Little Mrs." and I, in LA this past week did an interview for an E Channel show called "Daughters That Rock". On it we talk about our daughter Brooklyn and our views on parenting etc........I think it's the first time we've been on camera talking together. It's scheduled to air sometime in December. Thanks to everybody for continuing to "talk up" the CD & the web-site. I appreciate it!!!!!! Ciao for Now..........Bruce
9/21/03Hello!!!!! Things continue to proceed extremely well....Le' Imagine' Cafe is approaching 300 spins a week on close to 30 stations across the country and growing.....Check out the update in the story section.....
8/22/03I continue to be amazed at the sales for "Rainy Day Soul" from around the world, thank you for spreading the word!! The first single "Le' Imagine' Cafe" received a glowing review in last weeks New Music Weekly magazine and Radio responded with 8 adds right out of the box!! I'll be posting a list of the stations in the next couple of weeks and with your help I'm sure we can take this song a long way...
IIn response to some of your questions:
1) That may or may not be me on the CD cover...what do you think????
2) Yes, that is a self-portrait on the bio page. No, there are no posters or lithos available. Sorry......
3) Yes, there will be an audio-clip of the club mix for Le' Imagine' Cafe as soon as it is ready....
4) The song with Donna on stage with me on acoustic guitar is called, Worth The Wait...
In related news, our daughter Brooklyn Sudano has been signed by ABC TV to appear in a recurring role on the sitcom "My Wife & Kids", starring Damon Wayons. It truly is "Time To Be Free"!!!!!!!-----

A BIG THANK YOU!!!!!
I can't say enough about how overwhelmed I am by the amazing reaction I've received to my new CD & web-site from round the world. It's been so much more then I could have imagined.
We'll continue working to improve the site as we go to make it more interesting and effective. Since I travel so much, we're in the process of making it possible for me to update you from wherever I am.
On the CD front, Le' Imagine' Cafe is being released as the first single from Rainy Day Soul and will be shipped to radio next week! So get ready to start calling those radio stations in the weeks to come. A club mix is also in the works and should be ready to go to the clubs shortly.
Again I say thank you for purchasing my new music and for sending all your e-mails. Obviously, it would be impossible for me to respond to them all but know that I do read them and will attempt to answer all your questions here in the weeks to come. Ciao for Now.....Bruce
